Silver Citrate is a stabilized silver complex based on silver salt. It is being used as active ingredient in deodorants because it inhibits the growth of corynebacteria which are also responsible for the typical smell of perspiration. The smell of perspiration is thus reduced considerably.
Alum is a natural mineral extracted from alum shale. It is a natural mineral crystal. However, crystals can also be grown from a supersaturated solution of sulphuric alumina and water of crystallization. The more often the crystals are dissolved and crystallised in this procedure, the more pure and tolerable the artificially produced deodorant crystals are.
Potassium Alum and Ammonium Alum are used in certified natural cosmetics. They are said to be natural mineral active substances with antiperspirant functions.
Zinc salt is a neutral salt of citric acid. It is used as a mineral source in food, food supplements and in cosmetics (e. g. toothpaste) and has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. (Picture credits: ©Sergey Jarochkin/123rf.com)
Zinc is connected to pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (natural moisturizer of the skin). The salt binds water and thus reduces transepidermal water loss. Zinc salt has antimicrobial and sebum regulating properties and is used in case of impure skin as well as oily skin and scalp (dandruff). Furthermore it has the feature to form odourless salts together with the fatty acids of the sweat and thus reduces body odours.
