Natural skin care for babies and children

The skin of babies and toddlers requires special attention because it is thinner than the one of adults and its protective function is not yet sufficient. The hydrolipid film has a low content of fat and the protective acid mantle is still unstable. The skin's pH value is 6.5 at birth but then decreases to the acidic range in the first few weeks of life.

Even already for cleansing, mild care products should be used. In general, babies should not be bathed daily or washed too often in order to avoid skin iritations. Except of course the nappy area which must be cleaned mildly but thoroughly every time the nappy is changed. It’s good for the skin in the nappy area if it is exposed to the air as often as possible and if the fresh nappy is not put before the skin has totally dried.

Daily care of baby’s and children’s skin with suitable creams or lotions is recommended in case of normal skin but especially in case of dry skin - with particular attention to all highly stressed skin parts or those parts which are frequently cleansed (nappy area, face, hands). High quality care products maintain or restore a sufficient content of lipids and moisture.

Our soap-free Cleansing milk no.10 contains mild surfactants and additional lipids which prevent the skin from strong defatting by cleaning. Panthenol increases the skin's ability to keep moisture and soothes skin irritations. Our Lotion with oat no.94 is suitable for therapy-related basic care in the treatment of neurodermatitis and can be spread easily on larger skin areas. It is also perfect for children's care if the delicate skin of your baby or toddler is already prone to neurodermatitis or is rough and flaky for undefined reasons. We combine colloidal oatmeal combined with our special lacto-intensive active complex and have thus created a lotion which helps to interrupt the itch-scratch cycle especially in case of neurodermatitis and which calms irritated skin in a lasting way. The regenerating ingredients of oatmeal, such as avenanthramide and beta-glucan, primarily reduce itching and also improve the appearance of reddened and irritated skin.
